Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

In a long letter, Harry covered many topics, including his long friendship with Effie, her visit while he was attending Johns Hopkins University, his dreams for their marriage, her young admirer, politics, the fate of a cat and the letter he had received from his sister Sue. The student he mentioned was Orliff Field Dragoo, whose 1886 paper, Histology of the digestive epithelium of the gopher, can be found in Purdue’s archives.

“I am terribly trying.  I must be I am sure for I so often go & do things that stir up trouble.” Osborn, Henry 1884-11-12
