Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Harry expressed his thankfulness for all his good fortune. He had dinner with Dr. Smart, Purdue’s president, and his family, which gave him a chance to learn more about his boss. He told Effie about reading with Miss Elder and Miss Weed and asked her to let him know about what performances she was seeing.

Effie apologized for her outburst about Sue and let Harry know that those feelings had passed. She also reviewed her feelings just prior to their engagement. Thanksgiving did not keep her from working.

“Have I not cause for thanksgiving for this great joy in your love & devotion”? Osborn, Henry 1884-11-27

“Oh Harry our engagement has all seemed like a dream most of the time.” Osborn, Effie 1884-11-27
