Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

In today’s letter, Effie covered her Christmas preparations, the cold weather in NYC and her earlier trip to see “Don Giovanni.” And, she finally responded to Harry’s apology for causing her anguish.

Harry also talked about the weather and related the latest gossip and its unfortunate result. And, he returned to his favorite topic – the frequency of Effie’s letters.

“I wish she’d put a tag on me, & send me by express to spend the day with you, and you could send be back by the return delivery, but I guess I’ll have to stay home & finish up my work.” Osborn, Effie 1884-12-21

“The average american & almost all Hoosiers are born fools & no mistake.” Osborn, Henry 1884-12-21
