Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Effie tried to make up for not being able to write on Christmas by writing two letters today. She also sent a telegram to explain why the letter for Sunday would probably be late. Problems with her cousin Minnie’s pregnancy kept her first letter short. The second contained details of the gifts Effie had received, an explanation for the late letter, an admonition not to make friends on her account, and a response to his comments about her hair style.

“Minnie was taken very very sick & yesterday afternoon I had to go up there before I finished my dinner.” Osborn, Effie 1884-12-26a

“Am well” Osborn, Effie 1884-12-26b

“I believe the bang won you over, & now I’m going to keep it because you know you never cared a straw for me till I had it.” Osborn, Effie 1884-12-26c
