Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Harry replied to Effie’s concern about him spending too much money on her present and said that he was glad that she had always understood his financial situation.

Effie wrote about other people’s reactions to Harry’s photograph and compared it to how he had looked before leaving for Purdue. She warned him that she had a source who confirmed that he was overworking.

“It has often been a great trial to me to do without a clean fresh suit of clothes & hang on to the dingy tho whole & neat but shabby suit so as to have money to use for some study or books or some trip or some recreation which I considered valuable to me.” Osborn, Henry 1884-12-28

“I looked up at you, and you had an expression on your face, that I hope I’ll never see again.” Osborn, Effie 1884-12-28
