Harry’s self-portrait at work

Harry’s second letter of the new year focused on Effie’s concern about him overworking and reminiscing about their trip to Coney Island. He also gave his opinion about their cousin Hattie Creamer Langdon and her family.

In Effie’s first letter of the year, she wrote about her new pupil and lesson schedule.

“If I went out with you to any place of amusement, you could not force me to eat afterwards if I didn’t want to, and I would not let you feel that you must constantly be sending me candy as you suggest, or doing something for me all the time.” Osborn, Effie 1885-1-2

“I am too lazy to work myself to death.” Osborn, Henry 1885-1-2
