Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

The wrangling over letters continued. Effie wrote that she wished Harry would take as much pains for her heart as he did with his “worms and frogs & things” and he felt that she still didn’t understand his “case.”

“I have some how or other a suspicion that mamma has written you on the sly.” Osborn, Effie 1885-1-12a

“[T]ho’ I am not one of the kind to make a great show of my love I dont think you’d find the love lacking if you could cut my heart in “sections”.” Osborn, Effie 1885-1-12b

“Several of your short letters were bad for me.” Osborn, Henry 1885-1-12
