Harry's sketch of fingernails

Harry’s sketch of fingernails

The main topic of all three letters was a problem with one of Effie’s fingers, identified as a felon <http://www.davidlnelson.md/articles/Felon.htm>, which was making it difficult for her to write. In Effie’s very brief letter, she also wrote of Leopold Damrosch’s death, which would affect Harry’s planned trip to Chicago. Both of Harry’s letters also conveyed his satisfaction with the neckties Effie had made for him.

“I must write this scrap & send you a whole heart full of love and all I have kept over for you for the last few days.” Osborn, Effie 1885-2-16

“You are just a trump & you make me love you more & more all the time.” Osborn, Henry 1885-2-16a

“I don’t know why it is but there is a sort of peculiar pleasure in using things that you have made or that have been associated with you.” Osborn, Henry 1885-2-16b
