Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Effie counselled Harry to stay at Purdue rather than using any time off he might have to visit her. She had returned refreshed from a weekend trip to visit his family in Madison, New Jersey.

Meanwhile, Harry had taken advantage of his trip to Chicago to scout out employment possibilities at Northwestern University, whose current president, Joseph Cummings     <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Cummings>, had been president of Wesleyan University during Harry’s time there.

“Dont think I’m always so easy to get along with, for I mustn’t deceive you.  I like a little say about things and wont always be so meek, and leave everything for you to decide, so you must take advantage of this time.” Osborn, Effie 1885-2-28

“I felt afraid you would think I felt too lightly about your mothers loss.” Osborn, Henry 1885-2-28
