Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

At first it appeared that a letter from Effie was missing but it seems her sister Jule sent one, instead, to let Harry know that she was suffering from neuralgia. Harry’s first letter was written while he was in shock at the news. In the second, he was more philosophical about their situation.

“It is just dreadful to have you suffer so.” Osborn, Henry 1885-3-25a

“…I confess I find on hunting through my stock of information I know very little about you except what I may call the extremes of your life[,] very little about your inner thoughts[,] your inner life up to last September.” Osborn, Henry 1885-3-25b
