Harry’s first letter of the day he meant to be a surprise for Effie. In it, he took her to task for trying to build a trousseau of clothes to last ten years. In the second, he recounted a humorous incident involving the father of a new student.

“As we went up stairs Miss Weed came out of her room to investigate the tramp of mens feet in the womens court & as she saw me portering she “smole a smile.” Osborn, Henry 1885-3-30b
