Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Effie wrote more about the Albany plan and provided Harry with details of accommodations in Quogue, New York. You can find more about two of the houses at http://www.quogueclub.com/about/history.htm and http://longislandgenealogy.com/CooperHouse/Pics.html.

The Mr. Pilling, who apparently was pursuing Harry’s sister Sue, was probably Edward Stellwagon Pilling, an 1885 graduate of Drew Theological Seminary. Coincidentally, Pilling beat the Osborns to Minnesota; he became a minister in the Minnesota Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1886 and later even had a connection with Hamline University.

“I have found out all I can until the new time tables are issued, and that part you will get at your end.” Osborn, Effie 1885-5-26

The University Archives at Hamline University collects and preserves university records, publications, photographs, audio recording, moving images, artifacts, and other materials from the university’s early days in Red Wing to its present in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
