President Grover Cleveland at New York City’s 1885 Decoration Day parade

Effie knocked down the “cons” Harry had presented as arguments against a Christmas wedding. The parade she went to with Mr. Zerfass celebrated Decoration Day. President Cleveland was probably in this reviewing stand when she saw him.

“Mr. Zerfass took me to see the parade this morning.” Osborn, Effie 1885-5-30
