Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Harry wrote his first letter of the day while overseeing an exam. He felt he had to keep the letter impersonal so it covered events at Purdue, including the assignment of next year’s dorm rooms and the “microscopical soirée.” In the second, he, once again, apologized for his behavior and looked forward to the time when misunderstandings were behind them.

“I am up to my old trick writing love letters to the tune of scratch scratch scratch.” Osborn, Henry 1885-6-9a

“…Darling I can feel pretty sure of one thing & that is that my complainings have hindered rather than helped the very thing I strove so much for….” Osborn, Henry 1885-6-9b
