Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Effie’s letter was relatively short because she had had company all day.

Harry told Effie a bit more about his journey and let her know of changes at Purdue, such as the rearrangement of his room, the new stage between Chauncey and Lafayette, and the perceived coldness of Miss Elder.

“It is a comfort to know that you have come to a stand still, and are not continually rushing farther away from me.” Osborn, Effie 1885-9-12

“I was so dazed & miserable that it didn’t make any difference where I was.” Osborn, Henry 1885-9-12a

“…the whole house from cellar to the roof & almost every room in it has seen us happy together.” Osborn, Henry 1885-9-12b
