Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Effie asked again why Harry thought Dr. Smart might leave Purdue (and he answered her question in his letter of today). She complained again about her cousin/adopted sister Lottie’s complaints.

Harry wrote of two pieces on evolution (see the biographies of Sir John Lubbock [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lubbock,_1st_Baron_Avebury] and Thomas Huxley [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Henry_Huxley] and a piece on music. He also passed on news about a distant family member, Harriet Cleveland “Hattie” Van Sant Wagner.

“I am very busy with another old dress.” Osborn, Effie 1885-10-12

“I didn’t tell you the reason I feel rather uncertain about Dr Smarts staying here.” Osborn, Henry 1885-10-12
