Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Harry lamented his lack of a chum at Purdue, though he had taken an interest in Mr. Golden, one of the other teachers. Michael J. Golden taught practical mechanics at Purdue from 1884 to 1917 and the Michael Golden Labs there were named in his honor. For information on Salvini, whom Harry thought Effie should see, go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tommaso_Salvini.

Effie wrote about self-vaccination, teased Harry about his inattention, and encouraged him to spend more time with Miss Weed. However, she felt he should avoid a visit with his friend Belle.

“I am beginning to believe that I am born under an unlucky star.” Osborn, Henry 1885-11-8

“I may be very mean to feel as I do towards her, but I feel so nevertheless, and am so depraved that I dont feel sorry for my hard feeling toward her and haven’t made any special effort to forgive her.” Osborn, Effie 1885-11-8
