Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Harry wrote about his day, which he felt was a typical one. Besides classes, he had entertained the U.S. Entomologist, Charles V. Riley (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Valentine_Riley) and consoled a recently discharged staff member. He also described Alfred P. Edgerton, the man who had been appointed to the position that Dr. Smart had hoped to get (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Peck_Edgerton).

“Mr. E. is a real old gentleman of the school of 25 years ago.” Osborn, Henry 1885-11-17
