Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Both of Effie’s letters dealt with her response to the death of a friend of her friend Ada, who died under circumstances similar to Effie’s cousin Minnie. In the second, she also revealed that she had been ill and that she had been thinking ahead.

Harry was trying to recover from his first real attack of the blues since he had left Effie behind.

“Oh darling I hate to think of Thanksgiving without you. ” Osborn, Effie 1885-11-24a

“Darling you must be patient when I go on moaning over it, for I cant shake it off.” Osborn, Effie 1885-11-24b

“You mustnt despise snails for I expect to be elected professor of zoology some where just because I have done a lot of special work on some such insignificant creatures.” Osborn, Henry 1885-11-24
