Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

In the morning, Effie had the chance to write a long letter that covered Christmas presents and scales. Unfortunately, she didn’t get it into the mail on time, which led to a second letter of self-recrimination and explanation.

“Now this trouble you have with the scales is the very best discipline you could have, for it forces you to ‘go slow.'” Osborn, Effie 1885-12-11a

“Do you wonder that I hate myself?” Osborn, Effie 1885-12-11b
