Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

In his next to last letter before leaving Purdue, Harry let Effie know that he was continuing to treat his finger, that his work would not stand in the way of their marrying, and that he was feeling very outnumbered with the expected addition of another female teacher.

“I don’t think it ought to be necessary but I am going to marry any how & I will give up biology sooner than that plan if biology can’t furnish me a living.” Osborn, Henry 1885-12-16
