Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

Harry had been to dinner at a Mr. Braden’s home and had played Skat with Misses Weed and Elder. Mostly, he longed for Effie.

Effie, blaming the weather for the headache she had suffered through the day before, decribed the filthy conditions in New York City. She was also disgusted with the “idiots” at Purdue for their speculations about Miss Shoemaker.

“Miss Elder leaves here in about ten days.” Osborn, Henry 1886-1-29

“This A.M. mamma woke me up by throwing your letter at me.” Osborn, Effie 1886-1-29
