Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

In her first letter today, Effie wrote a detailed account of her lastest practice (which she always spelled with an “s”) session with Bessie Stoddart. In both letters, she expressed her disdain for Mrs. Stockton and her inadequate board. And, in the second, she revealed a sacrifice that she had made on Harry’s account.

“We had a desperate struggle with it, a long & bloody fight, but we got it.” Osborn, Effie 1886-2-9a

“Darling I am so delighted because Mrs. Stockton made a complaint to Dr. Smart, for she just put her foot in it when she did it.” Osborn, Effie 1886-2-9b
