"The Communicants" by Jules Breton

“The Communicants”
by Jules Breton

In her first letter, Effie wrote about birthday presents and operas. In the second, she made a guess at what Harry was making for her birthday, told him more about the Morgan Collection and announced the arrival of her sacque.

Harry sent a note along with Effie’s present (which was not quite what she had guessed) and later wrote a letter detailing what he had done that day and telling her what he had learned about the Morgan Collection.

“I have been to the Opera again.” Osborn, Effie 1886-3-6a

“I believe you have bought some photos, and you are fixing them up in some way.” Osborn, Effie 1886-3-6b

“…I bless the day of your birth as one of the great anniversaries.” Osborn, Henry 1886-3-6a

“’I never saw any body like Dr Osborn.  He is always wanting something to eat.’” Osborn, Henry 1886-3-6b
