Henry and Effie Osborn at home

Henry and Effie Osborn

For Harry, it was a good news/bad news day. He had an usher pinned down but it looked like he wasn’t going to be able to leave as early as he had hoped.

Effie had intended to write a long letter but she was too tired and had had problems with the oil lamp. However, she did let Harry know that his sister Carrie had been very happy with his response to her engagement.

“If you will wait to address the envelopes until I get home I can do the whole three hundred in a couple of nights.” Osborn, Henry 1886-6-3

“…she said that you & I had done a great deal to bring such happiness about, & that she tho’t our engagement had done wonders for them, and had some how or other been a blessing to them all.” Osborn, Effie 1886-6-3
